To Live and Die in Silverlake

Monday night at Privilege in West Hollywood, The Game was sitting on stage rapping over g-funk classics, throwing up signs, puffing blunts and schwilling champ-ag-nae out the bottle on a Monday night! What the fuck is up with these fools who just rage on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday nights? I mean I guess we did the exact same thing but still. Slim Thug was roaming around too - no glasses on - eyes all close together and shit. There definitely weren't any tired hip-hop club cliches: Booty shaking, titty flapping contests on the runway in the middle brought to you by The Game and the JT/JC Chavez mash-up host of the night. Thought we were in the bay the way these fools were going Crazy dumb.

We raged Sunset Junction, ate some mexican food in the hood and sushi in LA, This is Juan Maclean also spun a set on Sunday night - mad decent but kind of a crusty venue on Sunset. All in all we definitely had a quintisential War in LA experience. And now we are.. SO Tiiired.Oh ps The Game said watch out fordetox! ha ha

It's a Music Monday!

Hey, the other week was pretty fun with our Flagrant Fowl Homie Dudes, too bad it was pretty much just us there, but we chillen.

N E Ways.. Jamies gone :(. But I found a desk to get my studio in order! I watched a bunch of TV this weekend, Can't say I disagree with 24 winning that Emmy, but Grey's had a better season.
  • Props to Cousin Cole for this Pitchfork review (other blog play).
  • New Fader Issue 40 Mix.
  • The other day Rezound said over sushi that he felt that 'B.Benassi -Satisfaction' song, I told him I was sick of it after living in Rome for 6 months, but that the video was crazy.. Anyway, dude WOWOW from holler board finally came with a remix we can both feel.
  • Also, Lemon-Red has been back for a minute.
Also, I saw a bit of The Walkmen, in the rain, on Sunday. He has a pretty voice, no homo.
Oh, god (!!!).
Now accepting donated scanner for Office.

WAR IN LA!

Holy shenanigans! Some crazy shit goin' down in the sunshine state! Ariel Sharon, Steven Seagull and Chem Ali are going to converge for some war time fun this weekend! I leave from JFK at 12:35PM and arrive in LAX at 3:30PM. I feel like Biggie or some shit. Anyway, I haven't been to LA since I was a little dude at Disneyland, so this should be pretty fun!! Who knows what we'll be doing - probably some driving I can guess. I might be throwing down a party at my friends warehouse space (does he really have such a space? probably not!) or not. If anyone knows of any parties in need of a DJ - IMYABOY. Dj Rezound aka IMYABOY 2008. Come say bye at the Lucky Cat on Thursday. Will.Be.Dope. Fuck Will.I.Am.

Almost had to amputate my finger last night..

So, on Friday we did an East Village Radio show with B.Frost and also Cousin Cole dropped by to spin a couple too. I was trying to open a beer with my keys and cut my finger open hella bad. I got some ghetto band-aids at the bodega and wrapped it up good. Last night I took the band-aids off and -you know when you go in the pool for a really long time? - my finger looked like that, but really big and really white and really wrinkley! It was soo sick. Basically these band-aids cut all oxygen & circulation from my finger. As of this morning, it is almost all back to norm. The moral: Don't buy shitty band-aids.

We Gotta Get the Snakes!!

The evening everyone has waited for... SEE YA THURR!

My FUCKING bike got ANOTHER flat on the way to work TODAY

SO, Yeah.. MOTHER FUCK! This is too bizarre, right? Yesterday I ran over a large rock and pssssssst... today I ran over this screw (pssssssst). The screw stuck into my tire and tore that up pretty good, so this may be more than a $12 repair. In conclusion, I think I am going to stop cutting across the East Side on 25th Street --Maybe the busy 23rd now?

PS. Last night was fun. After we closed shop, we ducked over to this for some dancing.. and Jamie passed out stickers and made friends with Cobra Snizz. We almost lost all of our DJ gear too, but we survived!!

Big-Up-Rasta-Thanks to those who came to Happy Ending. We recorded the affair in audio, and we'll shoot to have those 4 great hours of mp3 available for you this weekend. Thanks to Eric B. & J-Milla too, who will be DJing here tonight..

Fuck a bike tire!

My Comico Comics, and Story

Last week on NPR they were interviewing a couple who were putting on an opera. Yay. This opera was based on the tale of Grendel. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Grendel is this ancient evil monster who originated in the Beowulf stories. Wikipedia is saying it's something like The Hobbit epic [Tolken is a Beowulf scholar].

Anyways, enough of that nonsense.. in the late 80s, my younger years, I used to kick it with this older guy Adrian. We skated and played micromachines (!!) and read comics. I was really young here, but for some reason my parents let me hang out with this older kid - we met at daycare. We used to draw a bunch. The comics he got me into was the Comico Grandel series. I can't find a fan club site for this on the net, but there should be. It's tha shit.

Comico's series (this comic started as a book, then moved to Dark Horse Comics, then to Comico, then back to DH as a miniseries, and has since resurfaced a few times since in books or in other comics) was written by Matt Wagner, illustrated by the Pander Brothers, and lasted from 1986 to 1990.. again, I was super young. The main character in this series wasn't even the grendel, but a woman taking on his appearance avenging the kidnapping/death of her son. She eventually becomes sort of taken over by this character and turned evil herself. This comic is set in the future (probably now, but with flying cars and cool shit), great hair styles, and sex and nudity.

My mom took these away from me when I was little. I stopped hanging out with Aid. Began hanging out with this older dude Matt, we drew comics too. We had this good series going called The Shadow. It was super dope. Both of these dudes live in Brooklyn now which is weird cause we're all from an island near Seattle, but I'm not so much in touch with either. Comico went bankrupt too.

When I went off to college I was able to put together the entire set off of ebay, but I just remembered today I left this collection back at school --I still hope it's in that basement. Other DOPE Comico comics: Johnny Quest, Fish Police, Robotech

Want to buy a boat?

So my old boss rebuilt this boat for Neil Young when he was 27. He then captained it for him for however many years. It's now for sale. Heartfelt story here. Those interested in buying, head here. It sleeps 11.

Ice Cream Of The Future...Still?

So, what the fuck is up with Dippin Dots? Are they still the "ice cream of the future"? From what I can gather, the company was started in 1994. We are now nearing 2007, almost 13 years later and we still don't have another, more advanced, gimmicky ice cream? Shouldn't Dippin Dots now be, "the ice cream of the present"? Or is it just that Dippin Dots actually had nothing to do with the fucking future to begin with?

'In the future, when the earth becomes like, space and stuff - no oxygen, no air, no gravity, no balls of frozen things - ice cream will break apart, into tiny balls that maintain as their own entity in the dish, but when put into your saliva-y, hot mouth, will melt and become - voila!! - real ice cream!'

That is the FUCKING SHIT! And that is why I actually sort of like Dippin Dots. But that slogan is still super dated. They need to come up with a little suntin' else. Maybe:

"Ice Cream of the Future Since 1994"

That style is definitely not on some future shit! That bracelet however, is kinda fly...
